Acupressure for Periods
How to Regulate Menstruation Naturally

Many women come to see me for acupressure for periods and to regulate their menstruation.

Today more than ever it seems to be a real problem. You can safely and effectively use acupressure for missing periods, skipped periods or heavy periods with good results.

This section will provide you with three powerful acupressure points you can use yourself.

Acupressure for periods points guide:

DO NOT use these points during menstruation or during pregnancy.

Liver 3 point

Liver 3 is one of the most common points I use to help my clients regulate their menstrual cycles. It is the source point of the liver which is like hitting the re-set button.

This point will be very sensitive, and pressure should be kept consistently held until pain subsides.

Liver 14 point

Liver 14 point is the Mu point of the liver meaning it is painful to the touch if the meridian is imbalanced.

It is safe to say if you are having problems with your menstrual cycle this point will be sensitive. Hold this point again until the pain subsides.

The Liver and Your Menstrual Cycle

The liver's main function is to store and cleanse the blood. Eating too many processed foods, fats, eggs and dairy, alcohol consumption and tobacco smoking all hamper the liver's proper function.

Now don't go rushing to the hospital to have them check your liver just yet! Plenty of women have done just that and come up empty handed.

No tests exist yet for checking the "qi" of the liver! Stagnant or deficient liver "qi" can lead to heavy menstrual bleeding, painful periods, PMS, cramps, uterine fibroids or ovarian cysts!

The Spleen and Your Menstrual Cycle

Now the main function of the spleen is to make blood.

Excess consumption of sweets and refined sugar, slow and weaken its function. Over worrying and obsessive thinking will also damage the spleen.

Spleen disharmonies will include heavy bleeding or chronic bleeding disorders, fatigue, edema, cysts and fibroids and digestive troubles.

Foods for re balancing the spleen include orange and yellow root vegetables like sweet potato and carrots.

The liver and spleen play a big role in maintaining menstrual regularity.

Spleen 3

Used to strengthen spleen function. The source point of the spleen, aids the spleen in making blood.

Good for women experiencing little menstrual flow due to deficiency of blood or heavy menstrual flow where the spleen is weak and unable to hold blood in the vessels.

Unsure About how to Use Acupressure

See this page specifically about how to use the acupressure technique for best results.

These points are meant to serve as a guide for improving your menstrual cycle and not a substitute for treatment.

Using acupressure for periods on a regular basis can be a big help if you are experiencing missing or skipped periods or heavy bleeding. Everyone is balanced differently so individual point prescritpions from a acupressure specialist or acupuncturist will benefit you most.
