Many axiety sufferes have found relief through acupuncture. Re-balancing the body's energy meridians and diagnosing the right blend of herbal remedies, is an art all in itself.
Chinese Medicine and Natural Anxiety Cures
Anxiety in Traditional Chinese Medicine can be caused by many things.
In all cases anxiety is a product of a disturbed Shen or spirit. They say the spirit lives in the blood of the heart. If the heart blood is deficient, this may cause heart palpitations, sweating, anxiety, headaches, depression and insomnia.
The root of the imbalance may start from the kidneys, spleen or liver all organs responisble for making blood in the body.
Chinese medicine encorporates the mind- body- spirit approach to holistic healing. Anxiety ties into emotions of the heart, while excessive worrying is due to a spleen imbalance.
Royal Jelly is a super tonic used to build blood in the body and is prescribed by many acupunctrists as a natural anxiety cure. However this is a long process, so don't excpect overngiht resluts. Rebuilding the body from a state of blood deficiency takes time. Sometimes in severe cases up to a year or more.
Natural Anxiety Cures - Acupressure Points for Anxiety
Acupressure uses pressure instead of needles to re-balance the body's energy and restore the immune system and the body's natural self-healing abilities.
When working with clients who have anxiety I always incorporate these next points.
Large Intestine 4 - This point is located in the web of your first finger and thumb and is a great point for relieving tension and anxiety. Brings energy down in the body. One of the most powerful points in Chinese Medicine do not use if pregnant as it will also induce labour.
Master Heart 6 - This point is located in the middle of the inside of your wrist, 2 inches above from the crease. Used to rebalance the heart protector. The master heart meridian regulates emotions. This is a great point to use to connect to calm. Especially good for panic attacks!
Conception Vessle 14 - Located at the center of your heart. A very calming point to use for anxiety and panic. I use it on the table when clients have out pourings of overhwleming emotions. Take deep breaths into your center and hold the point until the anxiety subsides.
Spleen 3 - Located on the inside ball of the foot. The spleen is responsible for creating blood int he body. This is the source point on the meridian wich will rebalance the energy throughout the whole meridian...kind of like the re-set button on a computer.
Spleen 6 - Located three fingers up from the ankle bone, usually very sensitive. This point connects all yin meridians or all meridians responsible for making blood; the kidney, liver and spleen. Another very important point in chinese medicine.
Breathing Excercises for Anxiety
Ever noticed when you are ridden with anxiety that you actually stop breathing, or your breahing becomes very shallow? This adds to the stress on your body.
Your body can't relax because a lack of oxygen is stavring your brain from proper functionning. This yogic breathing excersice is one of my favorites for bringing fast relief. This balances the left and right brain and affects the central nervous system.
Block your left nostril with your thumb and inhale through your right nostril for 4 counts
Hold for 16 counts
Now unblock your left nostril and block your right one, exhale on the right for 8 counts
Now inhale on the left for 4 counts, hold for 16 counts, and unplug right and exhale for 8 counts
Rinse and repeat 4 times each side
